Big D & Bubba

When you're sitting in the car wondering if the person in the next car over in traffic thinks that you've lost your mind because you are seemingly laughing hysterically to yourself, or sitting in the parking lot at your destination waiting for us to finish a topic, silly phone call, interview, game or conversation.....We are right there with you. And with you all the way. We know how crazy life can be....and we want to be your goofy, chubby, best radio-friend refuge from the harsh reality of being pulled 100 different directions by your spouse, kids, boss, coworkers, etc.

If you are new to the show,...um......hi! We hope to get to know you, and hope that you put up with us long enough to get to know us as well. Click on the bio's below to learn a little about each of us. If you've been a friend of ours for awhile, still click below, and see how well you know us!

By the way...because EVERYONE asks us.....We met in 1996 in Baton Rouge, La., where Big D was hosting a morning show and Bubba was hosting afternoons. We immediately hit it off, both on and off the air, and ended up pairing up to co-host a show together at the ripe old ages of 24!

Chris Clare

Chris Clare was born and raised in Western New York. I originally went to school to do sports play-by-play but he got a job at a radio station in the town he went to college in and almost 25 years later has never called a sporting event. He goes to plenty; he just enjoys them from the stands.

When not on the air, there’s no doubt he’ll be doing one of the following: running (he’s run various marathons including Boston in 2010), listening to music, finding another historic site to happen upon and reading up on it or traveling.

Amy Ryan

I’ve been on the radio since 1994! I’ve worked in OH, VT, IN, RI, NH, and since 2004, Maine! Wow, that’s a long time to be doing one thing I guess. When I’m not working, I enjoy getting out, meeting new people, trying different foods, working out, taking spontaneous road trips, doing karaoke, and hanging with friends! I’m also a new homeowner, so I’m sure all of the above activities will come to a halt, and I’ll start doing “homeowner” things! I also have 2 cats, Charlie and Oliver, who, you probably know well, thanks to all my Facebook posts!

Don Shields

Don Shields has spent over 35 years working on Maine’s radio airwaves as a disc jockey and sports broadcaster. That includes a lengthy stint as a basketball broadcaster on the midcoast and with the Black Bear Sports Network. The Rockport native was recognized in 2015 as the recipient of the Maine Sportscaster of the Year award as presented by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association based in Salisbury, North Carolina. Shields, who is known for his distinctive call of “bingo!” on a made 3-pointer, has been a fixture in Maine sports radio since 1985. He started his career in Maine at WCME in Wiscasset in 1985, then he quickly made the move to WRKD/WMCM, where he spent 24 years. He has been calling high school basketball games ever since. In 2007, Shields became a more recognizable voice to more Maine fans when he became the play-by-play announcer for UMaine women’s basketball team on the Black Bear Sports Network, a Division of Learfield Sports. He also has been a varsity baseball coach for more than a decade, beginning with three years at the former Georges Valley High School and since 2012 at Oceanside High of Rockland. Shields is a 1978 graduate of Camden-Rockport High School and a graduate of the New England Broadcasting School in Boston. He got his on-air start in Western Pennsylvania, where he met his wife, Mary.
